As a photographer, Venice Carnival, had long been on my ‘Must Shoot’ photo bucket list. So when I managed to make it Venice in time for the Carnivale , I thought it was going to be a dream come true.
The festival is held mid February every year, I was loving the photo opportunities on every corner. But it turned out to be one of my more challenging trips . Firstly it was freezing , I don’t work well in the cold , if I’m cold I might as well go home, as it ruins my photo mojo. I can’t feel creative in sub zero temperatures. I was also totally ill prepared to face the Venice photo scrum. Apart from having to leg it down to St Mark Square, at the crack of dawn when all the masked characters, liked to come out to play. I regularly had people shove me out of the way , elbows in the ribs , even balancing cameras on my shoulders think paparazzi extreme , it was just complete madness. Whilst I loved the shooting opportunity , Venice in winter is just not for me, but at least I finally managed to tick it off the photo bucket list. Here’s a round up of my favourite shots, Enjoy !!
