Citadines Berlin – A Family Travel Essential

When I headed to Berlin for an extended trip with my teen son, I was looking for family friendly accommodation. As with most kids, my son was a picky eater, and constantly demanded snacks, so l knew I’d be better off looking for an apartment, rather than a standard hotel room.

Introducing Citadines Berlin, located less than 10 minutes walk from the Adenauerplatz Ubahn station, and just off  Kurfürstendamm one of Berlins main shopping areas, it was perfectly located for getting around during our week in Berlin.

I opted for a studio apartment,  as there was only the 2 of us , but there’s also a larger 1 bed apartment which would be suitable for a family of 4.

Check out my in room video!!.

The most important thing for me was the kitchen , it meant I could avoid pricy room service, and have somewhere to put those all important in room munchies .

Citadines certainly thought of everything , the kitchen was fully equipped with a hob , microwave , toaster , kettle , fridge , loads of plates, cups, pans even a mini dishwasher. Not that I did,  but it was certainly possible to cook basic meals here.

I also appreciated that the room had a full sized bath, it was especially welcomed after a hard day’s sightseeing.

Even though Citadines is an apartment hotel , they serve a basic breakfast , whilst the selection is quite limited , it certainly adequate to get you going in the morning, with a mainly continental breakfast offering, with a couple of hot choices.

As a parent, the laundry room was a godsend , with full sized washer & dryer in the basements there is a small charge,  but when travelling with kids at least your covered when a clothing mishap arises !!.

The reception area also had a little hang out area , I didn’t use it myself but it’s useful place if there’s a group of you travelling to meet up instead of crowding into someone’s room .

The Mac & printer in the reception for guests to was handy for printing off directions, I’m old skool, I need at least one piece of paper at all times when travelling.

Whilst Citadines may not be in the running to be the next design hotel , I found that what they do , do they do well . As a parent, I found Citadines ticked all the boxes for independent family travel, especially on a longer city break. What they lacked in style, it certainly made up for in substance and practicality, making this a definate family favourite, to revisit again in the future.

Citadines have a global network of fully-equipped serviced apartments across Europe and Asia Pacific , check them out at

Please note I received a reduced rate for my stay in order to write this review , but my opinions as usual are all my own.
