Families can “plug in” for great days out at 29 venues across the city , including a six-floor science playground at City Art Centre, suitable for all ages.
With the purchase of a day pass ( £8 for Adults from £7 for children and free for under 2’s ) it gets you access to explore as many events as you like at the art centre. ( prebooking advised on the festival website below).
With 270 scheduled events over all the venues, this year promises to be the biggest festival ever.
Last year I was lucky to attend with my teen, over the festival he built a computer network , tinkered with an engine , experienced what it was like to be a zombie, played with fire , wrote his own computer game programme and hung out with some proper scientists. There’s plenty to keep children of all ages entertained, including the big kids at heart.

It will be holding events such as, How do rivers work? , whats it like to be a heart scientist? Plus the return of last years popular blood bar, where you can mix up your own gooey blood clot.
For the over 8’s there’s the chance to take part in a spot of Emergency Surgery where you can scrub in and treat your “patient” with the help of a “surgeon” to operate on knees , stomachs and brains *please note no real live humans are used for this activity !!
